New Heights

Liberated.
Time for a new beginning.
Sky is the limit.
New heights, ahoy!

I am feeling good today. I think that I am finally on track for letting creativity take me under its wing. And, it is a good feeling.

Done a lot of soul searching and will continue to do so. As that happens, our blog may morph.

Theme song of the Day: Pork and Beans, Weezer
Imma do the things that i wanna do
I ain't got a thing to prove to you
I'll eat my candy with the pork and beans
Excuse my manners if i make a scene
I ain't gonna wear the clothes that you like
I'm fine and dandy with the me inside
One look in the mirror and i'm tickled pink
I don't give a hoot about what you think

Table for Two

Here's to the sunny, inviting streets of Spain. If only there was a way to bottle that sunshine for a dreary Midwestern day.

Anyway, I love this image.

I love how the old man is sitting alone at a table. He's got his cervecita (now probably warm from the heat) and is just watching the people going by. What a life!

Then you have the student walking right by the outdoor seating to get back home. Oh to be a student in this wonderful country again...

Here's to more memories and future images of Spain. :)

Sleepy passenger

I've got to say, I thoroughly enjoy riding the "EL" into town. It brings something different everyday.

Some days it is a fashion show.
Some days it is a cultural experience.
Some days it is a hassle.
Some days it is therapy.
Some days it is breath of fresh air.
All different. Yet always the same.

I like to observe other passengers. What are they thinking? What kind of day are they off to, or coming home to? It is a mirror into the life of others. And, heck, it sure beats being in a car alone on my commute. We are hoping to do more with shots from our rides, so look for more to come in the future.

Blue Sky. Smokey Sky.

Blue Sky. Smokey Sky.

I was fascinated by the wistfulness of the smoke being emitted from these stacks; particularly, because it was such a brisk winter day. I'd say that for being captured from the car going at least 65mph, this shot turned out quite well.

Sure makes a statement about pollution and beauty. At least it got me thinking about it. Your thoughts?

A little L.O.V.E

I so prefer this expression of l.o.v.e. over the standard graffiti or etched tree trunk. It is not quite so timeless, but a much creative use of environment.

It is exhilarating to see that even in the dead cold of winter, people are still out and about marking their journey in snow messages.

Here's to more snowy days, preferably without the cold. Cheers!

Single Digits & The Bean

The Bean

We've both been in Chicago now for over a month and we hadn't explored Millennium Park together until today. Naturally the weather wasn't on our side - it was a crisp 7 degrees and the sun was only shining on the train going there and coming back. Makes you wonder: Why do people want to live in the Midwest? :)

I don't think I could ever get bored of the Bean. I love watching how people of all ages and backgrounds marvel at how reflects can be manipulated to your own personal tastes and likings. It's always fun to see how different everything looks with with a clear sky versus a cloudy sky, a winter day versus a summer day. We should have some fun shots on film that we will most up on here again soon too.

Until then ... this city has so many treasures for the photographer's eye! We can hardly wait until it warms up a little bit (or at least long enough to have our mittens off for more than 2 minutes without getting frostbite) to really start exploring.
